Coconut Shell Discs

These are made for me in the Philippines from recycled coconut shells. I dye them in a range of beautiful colours. Because the shells are a natural product, some irregularities of surface and dye absorption can be expected and are considered part of their appeal.

12 Kt. Gold-Filled

This is a duplex material made by fusing a layer of 12 kt. gold (1/20 gold by weight) to a gold coloured base metal. It is passed through a rolling mill, which hardens the gold and produces a very strong finish. The gold layer is 100 times thicker than gold-plating and has excellent wearing qualities. This material provides customers with all the advantages of gold without the cost of solid gold and will not tarnish.

Anodized Niobium

A pure metal, considered as safe as 24 kt gold, it is perfect for people with metal sensitivities. When subjected to high voltage electricity, Niobium produces layers of oxide, creating a range of beautiful colours which do not tarnish. We will be adding photos to this page, but the range of colours are: dark silver grey (natural), bronze, dark purple, dark blue, light blue, silver blue, light yellow, brass, copper, pink, fuscia, purple, royal blue,  and turquoise. Some designs may provide for a blend of colours - the most popular are purple to turquoise, and royal blue and turquoise.

Sterling Silver

I use industry standard sterling silver, which will tarnish with exposure to the air. Keep extra stock in zip lock bags and clean with silver cleaners – avoid those with sulphuric acid.

Backings

The stud earring backings I use are made from surgical steel, with an acrylic disc to keep the earring in position on the ear. The backs are rubber inside, which provides a very strong hold. With humidity in the air they may have an extra tightness, simply run a safety pin through the center to make it easier to put on. A pinch type tie tac backing is used for my swinging brooches. They are simple, easy to use and allow the brooch piece to gently swing.

Necklaces

I use a pre-made 20”chain for my necklaces, unless otherwise noted: Sterling Silver or 12 kt. Gold-Filled. Chain styles may vary between orders. Niobium pendants are packaged with gold-filled chains, but may be ordered with silver chains if you prefer.
